The Art Cellar

The Art Cellar is one of the most colorful galleries on the list. You can’t, nor would want to, escape the bright pink art, the whimsical landscape paintings, the funny farm animals, the blue and pink clay pots, and more. There’s a lot happening in this cozy art gallery. Perhaps the most colorful additions of all are the glass and metal vases, glowing with lovely yellows, blues, and reds.

There are at least 60 different artists showcased throughout the gallery at any given time. The gallery is open every day except Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Turchin Center

The Turchin Center for Visual Arts is easily one of the most inventive artistic attractions on the list. It confidently displays work from esteemed professionals alongside current students from Appalachian State University. You can seek out large metal elephants, twisted knots hanging in the air, giant geraniums, work inspired by Tai Chi, and just about anything else in-between.

With rotating exhibit halls and an unimpeded interest in all art, you never know what to expect hidden away in the halls of the Turchin Center.

Crossnore Fine Arts Gallery

The curators of the Crossnore Fine Arts Gallery try to focus exclusively on an enthralling side of art rarely seen.

The gallery has work from regional artists in a variety of specialties. Sales of many of the local items help benefit the Crossnore School and Children’s Home. Curators have collaborated with the home to help transition young individuals out of the foster care system and into independent living.
