What Can I Do?
Grandfather Mountain is one of the top attractions in the area. The famous suspended bridge draws crowds spring – fall and challenges visitors to overcome their fear of heights with the reward of incredible mountain views.
Nearby Boone has this dazzling and authentic old-town ambiance. You can admire the classic architecture in the area’s main downtown. Guests can stay closer to their rental cabins and head 9 minutes down the road to Banner Elk, home to the Tweetsie Railroad, the Carlton Art Gallery, and Apple Hill Farm.
For a day trip, you can visit the kids
All season long, there are riveting local events and festivals. Some of them are the biggest in the state, including Sugar Mountain Oktoberfest and the cheery Woolly Worm Festival.
