Bring the kids to Sugar mid-month for what may well be an Easter egg hunt in the snow. Sugar Bear and Sweetie Bear will be on the slopes in search of prize filled eggs on Sunday, March 15. What’s hidden in the grand prize egg? A season ski pass! If you are willing to dress your youngster up for Easter, you could be one of three contestants awarded a prize for most creative, imaginative and colorful costume. This special event is for children 12 years and under. Valid lift/slope tickets or passes are required for participation. Check with Sugar Mountain Resort for details.
Kids 4 years and under get free lift tickets with an adult purchasing a lift ticket at Sugar Mountain Resort. What better way to get the little one in the swing of things at an early age! Starting at age 5 kids can enroll in the Sugar Bear Ski School program. More adventurous kids can learn to snowboard from age 7 to 14 at the Polar Bear Snowboard School. In March, all these activities are offered at steep discounts.Tubing requires no instruction. Nothing could be easier than grabbing a specially made inner tube and holding on! From your Sugar Mountain vacation condo or home you can enjoy two distinctively different snow tubing venues just minutes away. 
Your Sugar Mountain Accommodations agent will help you with information and directions to the off mountain location; the resort offers six lanes of tubing on the golf course. Ice skating is always fun at the beautiful 10,000 square foot refrigerated rink, also located at the golf course.
Bring the Grandparents! Anyone 70 and older can qualify for complimentary skiing/riding at Sugar Mountain Resort. To obtain your complimentary skiing/riding privileges please visit Sugar Mountain Resort’s administration office, located on the second floor of the main lodge building and present a photo ID.
After the snow, what then? How about gem mining? The child in us all loves to dig for treasure. We have two gem mines in Banner Elk. Sugar Creek Gem Mine is located across the street from our office at the entrance to Sugar Mountain Resort. Foggy Mountain Gem Mine is located less than ten minutes away on Highway 105.
Family friendly “pick up” dining is easy on Sugar Mountain. Pizza from Bella’s Italian is a favorite; pick up on your way back to your home or condo. Both are located just beyond the entrance to the resort. Chinese carry-out is also available at China House. Lowes Foods and Food Lion have baked chicken and deli sides. Dine in at the affordable Banner Elk Café, Stonewalls, the Bayou or at the Painted Fish across from the entrance to Sugar Mountain Resort. There are several other dining options to explore.
