tncraft_shoppingEnjoy a full day of mountain music, handmade crafts, tasty barbecue and Brunswick stew in nearby Valle Crucis on October 19th. This picturesque mountain community between Boone and Banner Elk is worth a visit every autumn; this special High Country fair provides the perfect excuse. It takes place on the grounds of the Valle Crucis Conference Center on NC Hwy 194, about ten minutes from Banner Elk. Admission is free and ample parking is available in the adjoining field for $5 per car. Over the years it has become a major celebration attended by thousands of people, with proceeds going to local charities.

The Fair takes place in a huge meadow between a picturesque red barn and a field planted with corn and sorghum. The tents of more than a hundred arts & craft vendors and dining concessions dot the grounds and stages are set out at intervals for a day filled with music.

This fair coincides with Banner Elk’s Woolly Worm Festival, making it more important than ever to get your reservations in quickly for your first choice of accommodations on this special weekend.
