2014 Woolly Worm Winner Predicts Snow!
Kwazimodo is the 2014 Woolly Worm Winner, capturing first place and $1,000 in Saturday’s races at the Annual Woolly Worm Festival in Banner Elk. He was examined closely by festival experts to determine an official forecast for the upcoming ski season. This prediction is going to provide plenty of excitement for ski buffs and snowboarders alike. Beginning December 21 and continuing through January 17 expect snow and below normal temperatures. January 18-February 28th will bring light snow and below normal temperatures. Not to worry; Sugar Mountain Resort has great snow making capabilities and a new slope to celebrate. March will see the return of moderate to heavy snow falls and continued below average temperatures.
Kwazimodo hails from Graham, N.C., owned by 9th grader Vince Weyman. The weather for this year’s Woolly Worm Festival was great with lots of sun and temperatures in the mid 60’s. Thousands flocked into Banner Elk for a chance to win the $1000 bounty, line dance and browse the many vendors and artists on display. If you missed the festival this year, mark your calendars for 2015. Woolly Worm is always the third weekend in October.
